Following the 2022 Milfoto reunion, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the association, discussions regarding the renaming of the organization were initiated.

In the summer of 2024, after extensive deliberations on the legacy of the Milfoto brand, current and former Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) imagery technicians were consulted and participated in a vote to select a new name.

As a result, the Canadian Armed Forces Photographers Association was adopted as the new name, reflecting a more accurate representation of both past and present members of the Imagery Technician trade.
